For the chopped nuts, Mom used walnuts. If desired you can user a cream cheese frosting instead of the powdered sugar frosting listed below

Cocoa Drop Cookies
Ingredients
- 2/3 cup butter or margarine softened
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup cocoa
- 1/3 cup buttermilk
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1 3/4 cups flour; sift the flour with a fork to loosen and fluff before adding the the measuring cup
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp table salt
- 1 cup chopped nuts, if desired
- FROSTING
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1-2 Tbsp milk
- 1/2 tsp vanilla
Instructions
- Mix butter, sugar, egg and cocoa thoroughly. Stir in buttermilk and vanilla. In a separate bowl add the sifted/ fluffed flour, baking soda. and salt, stir to ensure baking soda and salt are well distributed through out the flour. Pour the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients and stir till combined; no white streaks of flour please. Stir in nuts. Chill in the fridge for one hour. Heat oven to 400 degrees. Drop rounded teaspoonful of dough about 2 inches apart on an ungreased baking sheet. Bake 8-10 minutes or until no imprint remains when touched lightly. Frost with thin confectioners sugar frosting.
